If you've ever waited in line for beer somewhere you know that those lines are always the longest. And if you're at a game, all you want to do is sit back and relax with a refreshing alcoholic beverage to root for your favorite game, but instead you have to wait for what seems like a lifetime just to be helped. Minnesota Twins fans will now have a chance to get their drink on a lot faster at Target Field thanks to new self-serving beer vending machines that will make their grand debut at the Major League Baseball All-Star events that start next week.
The self-serve stations are called DraftServ and were created thanks to a collaboration between Delaware North and Anheuser-Busch. The stations will still have attendants near them so that patrons can show that they're of drinking age, but they'll get to serve their own drinks using a preloaded card for $10 or $10 (with a limited-time $50 one only available for the All-Star festivities). They buy the card somewhere else and scan it at any of the machines to choose between four beer options - Bud and Bud light for $0.38 per oz, Shock Top Lemon Shady and Goose Island 312 Urban Pale Ale for $.40 per oz. While serving themselves, patrons get to pour how much they want at a time, so if they're feeling full, they can opt for a smaller pour. Also, guests can use their cards to pour up to 48 oz every 15 minutes.
