Volkswagen XL Sport Adds Some Ducati Power

When Volkswagen announced that they would team up with Italian motorcycle maker Ducati to build a high-performance XL1 model, everyone couldn't wait to see it! Revealed at the 2014 Pairs Motor Show, the new XL Sport pushes out 197 ponies thanks to the addition of a Ducati 1199 Superleggera V-Twin engine that's mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, allowing it to sprint from 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds before topping out at 168 mph.

That's a lot of speed for a 200-hp ride, but that wouldn't be possible without VW's obsession with streamlining the XL Sport's body. It has a 0.258 coefficient of drag, making it the most aerodynamic sports car. Other cool race-minded additions include a pushrod rear suspension and forged magnesium wheels. VW plans on building 250 XL1s, but no word on if the XL Sport will be available to the public.
