Basic cable is a must these days, but the premium channels - like HBO - are a luxury. But Time Warner wants to change that with their new affordable plan that provides HBO and about 20 other channels for just $30/month for the first year. This is great for those who don't want to have to pay for channels they never watch. The affordable offering also includes all your local broadcasters, as well as all the C-SPAN channels, shopping channels and shop.NBC. The new addition follow's suit in Comcast announcing that it will offer HBO and 25MBps for $40 or $50 a month depending on where you live. This might signal a larger trend of offering more affordable plans with premium channels since a la carte cable deals might never really happen. We can still dream, right?
