The Maserati Alfieri Celebrates The Brand's Centennial With New Concepts

Maserati has long been a name in supercars and luxury vehicles alike, and it's managed to make it to 100 years serving as the dream car for, well, pretty much everybody. But every manufacturer has to look forward, and the Alfieri is designed to show off all the ideas Maserati will be working into its cars in the near future.

Modest And Refined

It's worth noting that the Alfieri is a concept in more ways than one. It's definitely not the exotic supercar many associate with the brand; rather, it's something of a reflection of the brand's recent history, a 'grand tourer' as opposed to a zippy convertible or a straight-up race car. Oddly, it's a 2+2 design; this is far from the luxurious rolling couch you'll find from other luxury manufacturers, although it's got plenty of class. In short, Maserati seems to be hinting its future lies less with speed and more with style.

Under The Hood

As for the specs, there aren't many, as this is more of an overall design showcase instead of a demonstration of gadgets. Maserati chose to go with a natural aspiration 4.7 liter V8, able to summon 470 horsepower. That comes with a six speed gearbox, meaning that if nothing else, fans of a manual transmission will enjoy the car.

Where Does Maserati Go Next?

The Alfieri is certainly an interesting concept, not least because Maserati seems fairly committed to stepping more into the luxury market. But will we ever drive this gorgeous concept? Good question. Maserati leaves the door open to actually putting this concept on the road as a product, but a lot will apparently depend both on public demand and where they can fit the concept into their corporate plan.

In other words, it might happen, but you might want to drop Maserati a line and let them know you want one.
