If you're a tech nerd, you have a certain fascination with tools. It's inherent because tools let you build things, and yet are fun things to use on their own. Everybody with a keychain tool is guilty of, at least once, unnecessarily pulling it out to use for a simple task. And yet, the Logos M8 is a new level of tool: A completely portable sawmill.

If you're wondering how that works, well, first of all, by 'portable' they mean 'You can actually load it into a truck and drive it to places.' Still, that's fairly impressive for something that generally requires an enormous facility to take care of. And if you need to build something in the middle of nowhere, you can do a much better job of it.

Also, you don't need specialized knowledge, amazingly enough. The M8 is built from the ground up so that you can easily turn piles of logs into board feet with a minimum of trouble. It comes with levels and pulley systems to easily push the log through the blade, and everything is clearly marked. There's an instruction book if you get lost. And they even designed it so that it's easy on your back: Everything about this is at waist level, so you're not bending over to lift heavy objects.

Best of all, this is designed to last: Made of anodized aluminum, it's hard wearing and will last for decades if properly treated. Of course, you will have to clean it and make sure everything's in top condition, but considering this costs all of $3000, if you need to make boards for your job, or a project, or just because you really wanna, this is a fairly ideal way to make your lumber fantasies a reality.
