Becoming a first-time parent is some scary sh*t. I should know, I was once one last year, and even though I still don't know what the hell I'm doing, I'm getting the hang of this whole parenting thing. I really wish the Sproutling Baby Monitor was around back then because I sure could have used some extra help predicting my baby boy's behavior! The Kickstarter campaign is the brainchild of both Apple and Google alums, and is a baby monitor that will learn and predict a baby's behavior to make a new parent's life a bit easier (veteran parents can also appreciate the new monitor for their future babies, too).
Every baby is super unique and has their own personality, but figuring that out isn't always easy. It's the first in the world to learn and predict a baby's unique sleep patterns, their moods and room conditions to provide parents with very helpful insights on what their baby likes and doesn't. The device is made up of three parts - a wearable band that goes on their ankle, a smart charger and mobile app - that all work in tandem to provide valuable insight like: the baby's heart rate and if it's lower or higher than usual; when the abby will most likely wake up; if the baby is sleeping on his/her back or has rolled over; if it's too bright or loud in the room; and if the temperature of the room off from the baby's ideal room temp.
I would have loved something like this because anything would have helped during those sleepless months. I would have been able to tell if I could get in a quick shower before the baby woke up or if I could catch up on my favorite TV show (that was DVR'd, of course) without any baby cries. And another cool thing about the Sproutling is that the app can be shared with caregivers like babysitters or grandparents so that you can keep an eye on things when you're away. If you're a new parent, expecting more kids in the future or have any friends who are knocked up, the Sproutling is the perfect gift! Pledge $249 to get one in early 2015 (regular price will be $299).
